starting salary is expected to be $165,000-$185,000 annually
depending on experience.Position OverviewThe Schott Foundation is a
BIPOC-led national public fund and philanthropic intermediary with
more than 30 years of experience in philanthropy, innovative
grantmaking strategies, narrative promotion campaigns, and
philanthropic organizing working with racial justice organizations.
The Senior Vice President of Partnership Engagement leads Schott's
overall advancement, development, and communications efforts and is
responsible for establishing and maintaining philanthropic
partnerships, including multi-year major gifts and cultivation of
high net-worth individuals. The SVP of Partnership Engagement is
responsible for establishing and building out the Development and
Communications teams to support the institution and is responsible
for planning, managing, and executing a comprehensive and
diversified advancement effort that deepens organizational
sustainability and allows for strategic, mission-aligned growth.
The position is responsible for developing and executing on
comprehensive plans of work that dovetail fundraising and
programming responsibilities to maximize impact on both
workstreams.The SVP of Partnership Engagement is a member of
Schott's Leadership Team and works closely with the Leadership Team
to optimize their calendars to further cultivation and solicitation
strategies.ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership (25%)
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan aligned
with organizational goals, including leveraging Schott's role as an
intermediary and diversifying the Foundation's donor base.
- Provide guidance and leadership to President and CEO, Executive
Vice President, and SVP of Programs for effectively managing and
participating in the Foundation's donor engagement and growth.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, manage and grow a portfolio of
the organization's most significant supporters, including
foundations, high net-worth individuals, and corporate donors.
- Set financial annual goals and quarterly benchmarks for
engagement with new prospective donors and existing
donors.Fundraising Oversight and Management (45%)
- Direct all fundraising activities, including major gifts,
grants, annual fund, and planned giving.
- Develop innovative funding models that leverage Schott's unique
position as an intermediary.
- In collaboration with the President and CEO, personally manage
relationships with top donors and prospects.
- Lead, develop and directly manage a high-performing Partnership
Engagement team responsible for all aspects of the fundraising plan
including donor prospecting and cultivation, grant proposals and
reporting, internal management of grant processes, donor
communication, narratives and digital campaigns, philanthropic
technical assistance and supports for grantee partners, and
internal fundraising training.
- Provide leadership to direct reports and Programs team members
responsible for fundraising including the establishment of annual
goals, mentorship, professional development, and input on
performance reviews.
- Lead development and coordination of grant proposals for major
funding opportunities for Schott, and for opportunities to
collaborate with grantee partners for joint support.
- Lead and establish an internal management process for prospect
research and development.
- Define the fundraising protocols and policies to reflect the
institution's core values and mission for change.
- Provide guidance and leadership to Programs team as they
support grantee partners in their fundraising efforts.
- Represent the Foundation at conferences and events.
- Determine appropriate training modules for the staff and Board
to elevate acumen on fund development, donor recruitment processes
and protocols.
- Define role and engagement of the board and senior staff in the
fundraising process.Marketing and Communications Management(15%)
- Responsible for brand strategy and messaging across all
platforms
- Oversee the efforts to:
- Manage, articulate, and tailor Schott's unique messaging to
advance the education justice movement.
- Monitor key external trends and provide guidance on how Schott
aligns or responds directly in its messaging within the
philanthropic field.
- Develop and steward the voice of the institution in person and
online. Lead in the design of institutional branding, management of
public relations, social media, and organizational communication
strategies.
Finance (10%)
- Partner with Finance on long-term forecasts and resource
planning; set clear metrics for success over the short and long
term based on data of likely funding sources and overall
recruitment strategy.
- Develop and manage the budget for the Advancement
Department.
- Establish fundraising goals and annual budget planning process
maintaining a high level of fiscal responsibility for revenue
generation.Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
- Other duties as assigned by the President and
CEO.Qualifications
- Fifteen+ years of progressively responsible experience in a
comprehensive non-profit fundraising and communications program,
including two years in a position with staff management
responsibilities. Proven senior-level managerial, problem-solving,
and strategic planning experience with commensurate fiscal
responsibility for a public, private, or nonprofit
organization.
- Critical interest in and deep passion for the Schott
Foundation's mission and programs.
- Knowledge of both the education justice and philanthropic
sectors, including the unique role of intermediaries, is required.
As is an anchoring within one area of Schott Foundation's work
(education justice, nonprofit social change, philanthropy).
- A dedication to the diverse communities served by the Schott
Foundation.
- Fundraising ability and enthusiasm; demonstrated experience
raising significant funds from a variety of sources and an ability
to play a leadership role in development; strong social,
professional, corporate and foundation contacts in the education
justice/racial equity space considered a plus.
- Political savvy and comfort with broad-based constituencies
including grassroots organizers, high-net worth individuals,
philanthropists, and business and community leaders; the ability to
generate awareness, excitement, and appreciation that leads to
buy-in from diverse sectors.
- The presence and credibility to serve as an effective
spokesperson and ambassador for the Schott Foundation in
partnership with or on behalf of the President and CEO, with
outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Entrepreneurial and strategic, able to conceptualize and
express ideas and with the ability to anticipate and act on events
which might create opportunities for the Foundation.
- Ability to manage multiple projects as priorities change, with
an exceptional eye for detail and accuracy, and focus on meeting
all deadlines and performance goals.
- Model a leadership style that is inclusive, supportive,
collaborative, and respectful of diverse staff, partners and
supporters.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both orally and in
writing, as well as well-honed listening skills; demonstrates a

- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.TravelThe
Schott Team currently operates virtually with staff located
throughout the United States. This position requires regular travel
to participate in various organizational meetings, attend
conferences, and otherwise participate in job-related events. The
employee is also expected to travel to staff retreats and board
